Care and Feeding of your repair
- Leather / Vinyl/ Plastic Repairs: After a repair is done, it takes up to 30 days for our topcoat to completely cure. We know you can’t stay off of your furniture or out of your car for 30 days, so please follow these instructions:
- do not clean the damaged area for at least 30 days after the repair has been completed.
- The first 48 hours after our topcoat is applied are the most critical during the cure process. Please try to stay off of the item for 48 hours.
- After 30 days, the life of your repair will depend entirely on the use given the item. A repair in a house with active children and pets, may not last as long as one in a living room that is only used once to twice a year. A repair to a car seat in a delivery van may not last as long as one done to your grandmother’s Cadillac only driven to church on Sunday.
- Cleaning Instructions Leather, Plastic, Vinyl:
- We recommend using our Fibrenew Leather or Vinyl protection kits. You can order these from our website. These kits are a two-part kit comprised of our proprietary cleaner and protection creams.
- If you chose not to use our product, please do not use products with an oil-based silicone. This will build up over time attracting and trapping dirt. Our products use a water-based silicone which does not build up like oil-based silicones.
- Please do not use abrasive cleaning products to clean your items. These will scratch the topcoat allowing water and other contaminates to penetrate the topcoat reducing the life of your item.
- When cleaning spray the cleaning solution on the furniture in small areas maybe the size of a cushion or panel.
- Use a soft bristled brush to lightly scrub the wet surface. This will bring any dirt in the grain of your item to the surface where it can be wiped away.
- Wipe dry with a clean lint free paper towel, rag, or towel.
- We suggest fully cleaning the item first this will give the recently cleaned panels time to dry before applying the protection cream.
- Again, working one area or panel at a time, spray the protection cream on the sofa and rub it in using a lint free rag or towel.
- Continue with the rest of the item.
