“Jon McLendon does amazing work. He fixed a broken hard plastic seat belt buckle for my 1965 Ford Mustang. I didn't make it easy for him either.
I live in another state. I wasn't able to provide him all of the broken plastic pieces. He had never fixed a broken hard plastic item that was cracked and missing a few the pieces. He had to research how to fix it.
In order to fix it, he first had to piece together the broken buckle and pieces. Then fill in the missing part of the buckle.
He did an amazing job putting it back together. I have attached a picture of the broken buckle with the pieces he was provided. Followed by his putting the jigsaw puzzle together with missing pieces. Next, he had to fill in the missing portion. Followed by laying layers of fiberglass to build up the missing portion. Then he sanded everything down. Next, he cleaned the matching unbroken buckle and dyed the repaired buckle the same color.
He also dyed a third dark blue, almost black, buckle the same color as the others. The dyed buckles matched the original unrepaired buckle perfectly (but much cleaner).
I can't tell by the finished picture that one of the buckles had been repaired or been a different color.”
